An entire month of thrilling cricket all came down to one blockbuster showdown — the grand finale of CPL Season 2. And what a match it turned out to be! Fans were treated to an edge-of-the-seat classic that went right down to the final delivery. From start to finish, CPL Season 2 was a step up in every sense — bigger, bolder, and more entertaining — and the final more than delivered on all the hype.

Reinspirar Riders vs Police Panthers 

The grand finale of CPL Season 2 lived up to all the hype as Reinspirar Riders clinched a dramatic one-run win over Police Panthers in a match that went right down to the wire. With twists and turns throughout, it was a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last ball.  

Batting first, Reinspirar Riders posted a competitive total of 183/8 in 20 overs. Skipper Vaibhav Singh led from the front with a composed 60 off 50 balls, anchoring the innings while others played the aggressor’s role. Nitin Chaudhary provided the momentum shift with a quickfire 29 from 17 balls, while CP added the finishing fireworks, smashing 27 runs off just 10 deliveries, including four massive sixes. For the Panthers, Sandeep Panwar picked up 3 wickets in 2 overs, while Upender Tomar chipped in with a tidy spell of 2 for 20 in 3 overs. 

In response, Police Panthers had a shaky start, losing three crucial wickets within the first eight overs for just 53 runs. Rahul Malik was the only top-order batter to show some resistance with a sluggish 27 off 28 balls. At that point, the game looked firmly in Riders’ control until Mani walked in at No. 4 and turned things around. His explosive knock of 73 off 43 balls, laced with five fours and five sixes, gave Panthers a real chance. He built crucial partnerships with Abhishek Raghuvanshi, Himanshu Chawla, and Nitin Panwar, dragging the team back into the contest. 

Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, Mani kept the scoreboard ticking. Going into the final over, the Panthers needed just six runs with five wickets in hand and Mani well set at the crease. However, CP, who had already made an impact with the bat, was handed the responsibility to bowl the decisive over. In a stunning twist, CP removed Nitin Panwar with his second delivery and then delivered the knockout blow by dismissing Mani on the penultimate ball of the match. With three runs required off the final ball, Sandeep Panwar could only manage a single, handing Reinspirar Riders a heart-stopping one-run victory. 

CP was undoubtedly the hero of the night, finishing with match-winning figures of 4 for 42, alongside his crucial cameo with the bat earlier. It was a cruel finish for the Panthers, who looked destined to lift the trophy until the final moments. Instead, they’ll be remembered as runners-up in one of the most dramatic CPL finals, while the Riders celebrate a memorable title win.
