KL Rahul Becomes Fastest Indian to Smash 200 Sixes in IPL History

Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul hit a major milestone on Saturday as he became the fastest Indian and third-fastest overall to smash 200 sixes in IPL history. Rahul brought up the landmark during DC’s match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, reaching the mark in just 129 innings.

The only players to get there quicker are West Indian duo, Chris Gayle and Andre Russell. Gayle did it in just 69 innings, while Russell needed 97 innings. Rahul now joins elite company, with AB de Villiers just behind him on the list, having taken 137 innings to hit 200 sixes. What makes this even more special for Rahul is the company he now keeps. He’s become only the sixth Indian to hit 200 or more sixes in the IPL, joining the likes of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Sanju Samson, and Suresh Raina. 

Rahul reached the milestone with a clean 89-meter six off Mohammed Siraj on the third ball of the third over. The shot gave Delhi some early momentum and also brought up a personal landmark that has been over a decade in the making for the experienced batter.  

As things stand, Chris Gayle still tops the all-time IPL six-hitting charts with a staggering 357 sixes from his time with KKR, RCB and Punjab Kings. Rohit Sharma follows with 286, then Virat Kohli (282), MS Dhoni (260), AB de Villiers (251), and David Warner (236). Rounding out the top ten are Kieron Pollard (223), Sanju Samson (216), Andre Russell (212), and Suresh Raina (213). 

Rahul’s addition to this elite list just adds another feather to his cap. The 33-year-old from Bengaluru has quietly been one of the most consistent performers in the IPL over the years — and now, he’s firmly etched his name among the greats of the tournament.
