A clip involving Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh has stirred up quite a storm online — but not for reasons you'd expect after a high-pressure IPL clash. Moments after Delhi Capitals fell short by 14 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kuldeep was caught on live TV slapping Rinku not once, but twice. Naturally, the video blew up on social media.
At first glance, it looked more serious than it probably was. Kuldeep appeared to land a couple of slaps on Rinku’s face, seemingly out of nowhere, leaving the KKR batter visibly confused. The two are known to be good friends and have spent a lot of time together on national duty and during Kuldeep’s stint with KKR, but the clip — with no audio — had fans scratching their heads.
In the viral video, Kuldeep, Rinku, and a few others are seen sharing a laugh post-match. Then, out of the blue, Kuldeep slaps Rinku — not aggressively, but enough to leave Rinku visibly stunned. He seemed caught off guard, even a bit embarrassed. Kuldeep followed it up with another playful slap, which clearly didn’t go down well, as Rinku turned around and had a few words with his India teammate. Since the video didn’t have any sound and the commentators didn't mention the moment during their coverage, viewers were left to interpret it themselves. That led to a lot of heated takes online, with some fans calling Kuldeep’s behavior “unacceptable” and even demanding action from the BCCI.
The situation escalated enough for KKR’s official media team to step in. They released a short video to set the record straight, featuring both players sharing a laugh and brushing off the moment as harmless banter. “There’s nothing but love between the UP boys,” they said, putting any rumors of bad blood to rest. The clip also included fun throwbacks to their time together at KKR and with Team India, clearly showing the camaraderie they share.
So, while the moment looked strange in isolation, it seems it was all in good fun — just a couple of friends messing around. But as it often happens with viral clips, the internet was quick to jump the gun.
