Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old wonder kid Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken the cricketing world by storm, and not just because of his age. Despite RR falling short of the IPL 2025 final, the buzz around this teenage sensation refuses to fade — and rightly so. His jaw-dropping 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans was the kind of knock that doesn't just win games, it makes headlines and history.
Now, the young star has found himself in the spotlight once again, this time off the field. On Friday, Suryavanshi and his parents met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Bihar airport. In a touching moment, the teenager bowed and touched PM Modi’s feet — a gesture of respect that went viral across social media. The Prime Minister later shared the moment on his official handles, writing, “At Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavors.”

Vaibhav was just 13 when Rajasthan Royals snapped him up for a whopping Rs 1.1 crore during the mega auction in Jeddah last year. He made his IPL debut on April 19 at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium against Lucknow Super Giants — and announced himself in the grandest way possible: by hitting a six off the very first ball he faced from Shardul Thakur.
That was just the beginning.
In seven matches this season, Vaibhav racked up 252 runs at an average of 36 and an eye-popping strike rate of 206.55. He built a fiery opening combination with Yashasvi Jaiswal, but it was that iconic hundred against GT in Jaipur that truly cemented his place in IPL folklore. Scoring 101 off just 38 deliveries, he became the youngest male cricketer to notch a T20 century — and his 35-ball ton is now the second-fastest in IPL history.
His performances even caught the attention of the Prime Minister during one of his Mann Ki Baat episodes. “I have seen in the IPL, the son of Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s spectacular performance. At such a young age, Vaibhav has set such a great record. There is a lot of hard work behind Vaibhav’s performance,” PM Modi said. He added, “To bring his talent to the forefront, he has played many matches at different levels. The more you play, the more you will shine. Competing in matches and competitions as much as possible is very important. The NDA government has always given it the highest priority in its policies.”
Suryavanshi wrapped up his debut IPL campaign with a classy 57 off 33 balls against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings on May 20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Though his team couldn’t go the distance, the young batter left fans, pundits, and even the Prime Minister talking.
