Barcelona Eye Bargain Deal for Teen Sensation Roony Bardghji

Barcelona are once again circling around Roony Bardghji — and this time, their interest in the FC Copenhagen winger seems much more serious. The 19-year-old Swedish talent, who will be a free agent in December, was first linked with the Catalan giants back in late 2023. But now, with his contract winding down and the transfer window heating up, Barça are actively exploring the possibility of bringing him to Camp Nou.

According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, the club has already opened direct talks with the player's camp to understand where things stand. Born in Kuwait and raised in Sweden, Bardghji has caught the attention of several big names in Europe, including FC Porto, who reportedly made a bid just two weeks ago. But for Barcelona, this pursuit is not tied to their ongoing chase of Nico Williams — it’s a completely separate opportunity they’re keen to act on.

On Thursday, Bardghji’s agent was spotted in Barcelona, sharing lunch with sporting director Deco, along with Bojan Krkic and Alejandro Echevarría, according to Culemanía. The message is clear: Barça are positioning themselves to land the young winger ahead of the competition. Given that Bardghji’s contract is up at the end of the year and his reported buyout clause is just €2–3 million, this could be one of the smartest bargain deals of the summer. If the deal does go through, the plan is to ease him into life in Catalonia. He would initially play with Barcelona Atlètic while training with the first team — a path already approved by head coach Hansi Flick.

The thinking is simple: Bardghji could provide much-needed cover for Lamine Yamal, giving the 17-year-old sensation some breathing room without forcing Barça into a major financial commitment. It’s a move that makes sense both sportingly and economically. Of course, there are some concerns. Bardghji tore his ACL during training in May 2024, a setback that kept him out for nearly a year. That scared off Olympique de Marseille, who had been in the mix earlier. But he returned to action in March, playing six matches to help Copenhagen win the Danish league title — and Barça have reportedly reviewed medical reports that confirm he's fully recovered.

For such a modest fee, the upside is huge. Bardghji is a player who has previously attracted attention from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus, and Bayer Leverkusen. However, there's one other factor working in Barcelona's favor: he’s been a fan of the clu his entire life.

Social media is full of clues pointing to Bardghji’s deep-rooted love for Barcelona. From wearing old Barça kits as a kid to posting about Lionel Messi with wide-eyed admiration, his devotion is clear. One of his TikTok videos even opens with a childhood photo of him in the 2011-12 Barça shirt. Dig even further and you’ll find an inactive Instagram account, frozen in time, packed with pictures of him in full Barcelona gear. The bio? Simple and heartfelt: “Barcelona, my life” and “Messi.”

Given the price tag, his potential, and his emotional connection to the club, this feels like more than just another transfer rumour. If Barcelona act swiftly, Roony Bardghji might soon be living his childhood dream — in the very shirt he’s adored for years.
