South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been handed a one-year suspension from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after opting out of the tournament to join Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the decision on Thursday, stating that Bosch had breached his agreement with PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi.
Bosch was initially picked as a diamond-category player by Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL draft. However, as the PSL and IPL schedules overlapped this year, he pulled out of the PSL commitment after receiving a late call-up from Mumbai Indians to join as an injury replacement. The PCB responded swiftly, accusing Bosch of violating the terms of his contract and issuing a legal notice. According to a statement released by the board, Bosch has since “expressed his regrets” over the decision, but the PCB has decided to bar him from taking part in the 2026 edition of the PSL.
This move from the PCB appears to be a firm warning to other players considering jumping ship mid-commitment. With the PSL moving its schedule to overlap with the IPL, one of the goals was to lock in player availability and avoid late withdrawals. This year, the PSL draft was held after the IPL auction — a deliberate strategy to secure players who weren’t picked up by IPL franchises.
Because of that timing, the PSL was able to attract a number of high-profile names who went unsold in the IPL auction, including David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Rassie van der Dussen, and Kane Williamson. But with Bosch switching sides after signing with a PSL team, the PCB felt it was important to take a stand. By enforcing this ban, the PCB is clearly aiming to protect the integrity of its league and discourage future player exits — especially when the tournament overlaps with the IPL, as it likely will again.
