The playoff race is getting tighter by the day, but Gujarat Titans don’t have much to worry about — at least not yet. With six wins from nine games, they’re comfortably placed in fourth and a victory tonight could catapult them all the way up to second, especially since they’ve played one match fewer than current table-toppers Mumbai Indians.

But the equation is simple now: SRH must win almost every game from here on if they want to sneak into the top four. A loss tonight, however, could be the final nail in the coffin. If that happens, they’ll likely join CSK and RR as the sides officially out of the playoff picture. So, while GT can strengthen their position at the top, SRH are fighting to keep their season alive. As both teams have solid squads, predicting a winner in today’s match is difficult, but here’s how it might unfold: 

Match Prediction: Gujarat Titans have turned the Narendra Modi Stadium into a bit of a fortress this season. Aside from a slip-up in their opening game against Punjab Kings, they’ve been flawless at home. Since that early loss, GT have racked up wins over Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad, and they’ve looked in control doing it. 

Given that strong home record, they’ll head into tonight’s clash as clear favorites — and not just because of the venue. When these two sides last met, GT made light work of Sunrisers Hyderabad, cruising to a seven-wicket win. With SRH still trying to find their feet, this one could very well be another comfortable outing for the Titans on their home turf.
