Mayank Yadav Likely to Join LSG Squad Tomorrow for IPL 2025

Lucknow Super Giants are set to welcome a major boost to their squad as speedster Mayank Yadav is on the verge of returning to action in IPL 2025. After missing the start of the season due to a couple of injuries, the young pacer is expected to rejoin the squad on Tuesday.

Mayank had been recovering at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, dealing with a lumbar stress issue that was followed by a freak toe injury — sustained after he accidentally kicked his bed. According to a report from India Today, he's now fit and ready to return, although LSG's coaching staff will have the final say on when he takes the field. “Top sources have informed India Today that he is fit to play, but the final call will rest with the LSG coaching staff, who will be monitoring the player closely,” the report noted. 

Despite playing only four games last season, LSG showed their faith in Mayank by retaining him for Rs 11 crore — a big bet on his raw pace and potential. And now, with the team already performing well, his return could elevate them further. LSG’s pace department had a few holes early in the season, with four key bowlers missing. But things have started to look up. Akashdeep and Avesh Khan are back, and Shardul Thakur — signed as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan — has impressed with the ball. Now, Mayank’s comeback could give them the cutting edge they’ve been missing. 

The timing couldn’t be better. LSG are sitting pretty in fourth place with four wins from six games, and they're brimming with confidence after a solid six-wicket win over Gujarat Titans. That win was powered by half-centuries from Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram. LSG’s next challenge comes against Chennai Super Kings at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, April 12. With Mayank possibly available for selection, it could mark the beginning of another exciting chapter in LSG’s campaign.
