Most Runs Conceded Without a Wicket in IPL 2025

Fazalhaq Farooqi finds himself in an unfortunate spotlight after scripting an unwanted record in IPL 2025 — the most runs conceded without taking a wicket this season. The Rajasthan Royals left-arm seamer has given away 171 runs in 14 overs across four matches without a single breakthrough. What makes it even tougher to digest is that Farooqi is a specialist bowler, unlike others on the list who have contributed with both bat and ball.

This unwanted stat was sealed during RR’s recent clash against the Mumbai Indians, where Farooqi was taken for 54 runs. To be fair to him, he nearly had his moment early on. In just his first over, he thought he had Rohit Sharma trapped in front — only for the veteran opener to successfully overturn it via DRS. The ball was shown to be pitching marginally outside leg stump. That summed up Farooqi’s season — unlucky, underwhelming, and now, historically expensive without reward.

The Afghan pacer has now gone wicketless in four consecutive outings. His economy rate isn’t the worst, but in a league where impact is everything, those figures without a single wicket raise eyebrows — especially when you're part of a side who are currently enduring a historically bad season.

Farooqi’s fellow wicketless companions in this rather bleak statistic are all-rounders, who at least have the opportunity to contribute with the bat. Marcus Stoinis has conceded 123 runs in 10.4 overs without a wicket, Sam Curran 99 runs in 9 overs, Jamie Overton 83 in 6.0 overs, and Abhishek Sharma sits at 82 runs. These players can find redemption with the bat — Abhishek Sharma and Curran in particular have had match-winning moments with the willow — but Farooqi doesn't have that luxury. His primary and only role is to take wickets. And so far, it just hasn’t clicked.

While Farooqi's record is one of futility, another Royals pacer holds a rather different, albeit equally unwanted, record. Jofra Archer has now conceded the most runs by any bowler this season — a whopping 401. While Archer has picked up wickets along the way, it shows how even strike bowlers can be vulnerable in a season dominated by high scores.

For Rajasthan Royals, it’s a bit of a dilemma. Do they stick with Farooqi in hope that his luck turns? Or do they look elsewhere? But one thing's for sure: Farooqi has the potential — he’s shown it on the international stage. But right now, the IPL has been unforgiving, and the numbers don’t lie.
