Virat Kohli Becomes First Player to Complete 1000 Boundaries in IPL

Virat Kohli added another feather to his already glittering cap on Thursday night, becoming the first player in IPL history to smash 1000 boundaries. The milestone came during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s clash against Delhi Capitals at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Kohli, who already holds the record for most runs in the IPL and is the only batter to cross the 8000-run mark, needed just two more boundaries to reach the 1000-mark. He wasted no time getting there, crossing the line within the first four overs of the innings. The 36-year-old now leads the list of IPL’s boundary hitters, leaving behind the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, who is second with 920 fours, and David Warner, who follows with 899. Kohli’s consistency and knack for finding the fence have been instrumental in his long-standing dominance in the league. Whether it's piercing the off-side gap or finding the ropes with those trademark flicks off his pads, Kohli has done it all with class and intent. 

Thursday’s match against DC, however, wasn’t one of Kohli’s longer stays at the crease. After a promising start, he fell for 22 off 14 balls, looking to up the ante as the innings began to stall. It came at a time when RCB’s innings was beginning to wobble. Phil Salt, who looked in great touch with a 17-ball 37, had just been dismissed, and Devdutt Padikkal was struggling to get going at the other end. Sensing the need for a momentum shift, Kohli took the aggressive route — but it didn’t quite come off this time. 

Still, despite the early departure, Kohli’s brief knock was enough to script history. It was yet another reminder of his sheer impact and how he continues to evolve and adapt — even after all these years. And for fans at the Chinnaswamy, seeing Kohli create yet another record at his home ground only made it that much more special.
